Alternative Education Program Offerings
EXCEL
The Excel Program will serve students ages 17-20 who are/were not successful in the traditional school setting. Students will earn a high school diploma by completing a portfolio (which focuses on life after high school), competency-based curriculum, 380 hours of work completion, and 30 hours of community service. Students will work on a competency-based curriculum that focuses on language arts, social studies, math, and science. They will also receive emotional, social, and life skills instruction in an individualized, small group setting. Students will attend school half the day and be required to work or volunteer the other half. Note: The Excel Program is part of THS but located in a different building.
Milwaukee Street Academy (MSA)
Milwaukee Street Academy (MSA) is an alternative education program that was developed to serve senior or super senior students, ages 17-20, who are/were not successful in the traditional school setting. MSA offers students the opportunity to earn a Tomah High School Diploma in one or two semesters by utilizing the GED Option II requirements. Those requirements include completing a portfolio (which focuses on life after high school), GED testing (based on current credits earned), 380 hours of work completion, and 30 hours of community service. Students will attend the program for half the day, and work or volunteer for the other half. The goal of the Milwaukee Street Academy is to help students successfully transition from school to work, the military, or college while earning a high school diploma. Note: Milwaukee Street Academy is part of THS but is located in a different building.
